Opening hours and rates

Welcome !
Aven d'Orgnac Cave can only be visited accompanied by a guide.
Aven d'Orgnac (the cave & the museum) is open to visitors every day from the 1st of February to the 15th of November and during the Christmas school holidays from the 21st of December 2024 to the 5th of January 2025. Closed on the 25th of December 2024 and on the 1st of January 2025.

On rainy days and in August, we advise you book your tickets in advance to avoid queuing at the ticket office.
You can then show up directly to the cave entrance (the black door), 5 min before the departure of you guided tour (time indicated on your e-ticket).
You can either print your e-ticket or show it on your smartphone.

Ticket desk at the Cité de la Préhistoire : 13.45 - 18.00
French Cave guided tours : 14.00 - 15.30 - 17.00

• MARCH
Ticket desk at the Cité de la Préhistoire : from 9.45 to 12.30 and from 13.45 to 18.00
French cave guided tours : 10.00 - 11.30 - 14.00 - 15.30 -17.00

• APRIL-MAY-JUNE & SEPTEMBER
Ticket desk : 9.45 - 17.30
The Cité de la Préhistoire : 10.00 - 19.00
French Cave guided tours every 30 minutes from : 10.00 - 12.00 & 14.00 - 17.30
Please note that on Sunday the 2nd of June 2024, cave guided tours will be suspended for the day.

• JULY & AUGUST
Ticket desk : 9.30 - 19.00
The Cité de la Préhistoire : 10.00 - 19.00
French Cave guided tours all day long : 9.50 - 18.00
English Cave guided tours, only from the 10th of July to the 27th of August : 11.00, 12.30, 13.30, 15.00 and 16.30

Rates

Booking online is not compulsory but advised. There is also a ticket office at the Aven d'Orgnac.

Useful information

• Download the visit onto your mobile phone to visit the cave in your language (english, dutch, german and italian)
• The rates include the guided tour of the Cave and the unguided tour of the Cité de la Préhistoire.
• Guided tour (compulsory) of the cave : 1 hour.
  
• Temperature in the cave : 12°C all year round.
  Wear a sweater and shoes (the floor can be slippery !)
